- Take us back to 2014. What was life like when you first joined Hireology?
Natalie: I was 24 years old, working as a paralegal at a law firm, feeling unfulfilled. As a naturally creative and outgoing person, the rigidity of that job didn’t align with who I truly was. I had dabbled in marketing before and knew I wanted to pursue something that resonated with my personality and interests. When I got the offer to join Hireology as a marketing coordinator, I cried tears of joy. Interviewing at a ping pong table in Hireology’s casual startup office was such a stark contrast to my previous environment—I just knew it was the right fit for me. That first day felt like a fresh start. I was stepping into a world where I could be myself and contribute meaningfully. The atmosphere, the casual dress code, the creative brainstorming, and being part of something innovative and exciting, all of it resonated with me. Back then, we were a small team of about 30 people, having just secured Series B funding. It felt like we were all taking a chance on each other, and that energy was contagious. I felt like I belonged.
- How has your role evolved over the years?
Natalie: I was a “jack-of-all-trades” marketing coordinator when I first started. I posted on social media, wrote the occasional blog, and even helped pack materials for events nationwide. Over time, I gravitated toward digital marketing—email campaigns, website management, paid strategies, and social media. It became clear that this was where I excelled, and I had been given the space to focus and grow in these areas, for which I’m so grateful.
About five or six years ago, I transitioned into a specialized digital marketing role, allowing me to hone my skills further. I’ve had the opportunity to train sales teams, manage messaging for franchise businesses, and collaborate on campaigns that align with our brand’s evolution. I love the creativity and innovation of digital marketing, and Hireology has always encouraged me to bring fresh ideas to the table.
- What are some of the proudest accomplishments in your career at Hireology?
Natalie: My journey at Hireology has been about more than just climbing the professional ladder; it’s been about discovering my strengths and embracing challenges that once seemed, honestly, insurmountable. Overcoming my fear of public speaking is something I’m incredibly proud of. Early on, it was a crippling fear—I vividly remember running out of one of my first company meetings, overwhelmed at the thought of introducing myself. However, I gained confidence over time as I grew comfortable presenting my work. Now, I can stand in front of a room of 100 people without a second thought. This transformation taught me that confidence stems from practice and believing in the material you’re presenting.

- How has Hireology's culture helped shape your personal and professional growth?
Natalie: Hireology’s culture of trust, collaboration, and support has been instrumental in my growth. A great example was when my husband’s job relocated us to Tennessee. This was before remote work was common, but Hireology trusted me to continue my career from afar. That flexibility allowed me to grow while navigating a significant life change. Becoming a mom was another huge milestone in my life, and I couldn’t have balanced work and family without the understanding and support of the Hireology team.
I’ve learned to prioritize what matters at work and home. Efficiency has really become my superpower, allowing me to focus on tasks that move the needle while still making time for my family. Hireology’s culture emphasizes work-life balance, reinforcing that you can succeed in your career without sacrificing the things that fulfill you.
- What have been the most significant lessons from your 10 years at Hireology?
Natalie: Reflecting on my time here, I’m grateful and struck by how much I’ve changed! I’m thankful for the leaders who have inspired me, the teammates who have become lifelong friends, and the opportunities that have allowed me to grow professionally and personally. The biggest lesson has been to trust myself and my abilities. If I could advise my younger self, I’d say: “You were hired for a reason. Be confident. Be curious. Don’t let imposter syndrome hold you back.” Early on, I doubted myself, but I’ve learned that growth comes from stepping out of your comfort zone.
Another lesson is the value of building relationships. Being back in the office after years of remote work has reminded me how vital proximity is for collaboration and creativity. Some of the best ideas come from quick, informal conversations at someone’s desk. Hireology’s culture has always fostered those connections, making all the difference in my experience. The relationships I’ve built here have been instrumental in my journey.
- What excites you most about Hireology's future?
Natalie: We’re entering a new chapter by narrowing our focus and excelling in areas where we know we can stand out. I’m thrilled to be part of it! I see myself continuing to lead innovative digital marketing initiatives and contributing to our focus on excellence and specialization.
I’m also excited about building stronger relationships with newer team members; our team has grown so much. Only a handful of us were here in the early days, so I want to be a resource for others and help them feel connected to our mission. The office is buzzing with energy and creativity, and I’m looking forward to tapping into that now that we’ve moved our family back to the Chicago area.

- What kind of legacy do you hope to leave at Hireology?
Natalie: I hope my teammates remember me as optimistic, supportive, and always willing to lend a helping hand. Positivity goes a long way, especially in a fast-paced environment, and I want to uplift others and inspire them to find solutions, even in challenging situations.
- What fills your cup outside of work?
Natalie: My friends, my family, and a bit of independence! I love a good workout class to reset, but I also thrive on having a home full of friends and family, playing music, and enjoying the chaos. Those moments keep me grounded and remind me why I work so hard.
