Achieving this goal takes dedication and intention, which you can find in our competitive pay, benefits, and remote work options — but we don’t stop there! Our career growth opportunities and mobility offerings are top of class too; we want to support our people no matter where they are in their career so that they are fully prepared to make their next move, no matter what that move may be. Each year, hundreds of employees experience both traditional and non-traditional career growth at Hireology; these opportunities allow them to expand their skills, gain new experiences, and feel fulfilled in their day-to-day work.

Each month, we’re featuring a different employee who has grown and expanded their career at Hireology in our new Career Mobility Spotlight blog series. For May, we’re focusing on Stephany Burz, Business Development Representative turned Product Operations Lead. Stephany’s career at Hireology is a wonderful example of how Hireology helps employees find the right fit for them by allowing exploration of our various career paths.

When did you start with Hireology? What role did you start in? What role are you in currently?

I started with Hireology in October 2019 as a Business Development Representative (BDR). Currently, I am an Associate Product Manager.

Describe how you’ve grown professionally since you started working for us, please.

During my time at Hireology, I had the opportunity to explore different career paths that I was interested in such as Sales, Customer Success, and eventually Product as a Product Operations Specialist, then  a Product Operations Lead, and now an Associate Product Manager.

What have been your most significant achievements working for Hireology?

Among the many career highlights I’ve had during my time at Hireology, these are the ones that stand out the most:

  • I collaborated with Product Owners to develop a new bug process
  • I hired a new career site freelancer
  • I learned SQL and Tableau to fulfill data requests
  • I created a social media guide for customers to help them leverage social media as a hiring tool during the pandemic
  • I organized a Healthcare Sales trip to an assisted living community in the Chicago area during my time as a BDR in an effort to give back to the community and become more familiar with the vertical that we serve

What’s the best advice you can give to someone who is looking to move up in their role or has shown interest in a different role or department?

Everyone should participate in job shadow month to learn more about the different departments that they might be interested in. When paired with someone from the department that you would like to join, don’t be afraid to ask them questions and offer to help/be involved after job shadowing ends. Keep networking with individuals in the department that you would like to join and schedule time to learn more about their day-to-day. If you would like to build more skills in the area that you’re interested in, use your education stipend toward certifications that will help you in your next move.

What do you like about our company culture?

I love the collaborative environment at Hireology, as well as the focus on work-life balance.

What makes you want to stay at our organization?

I really enjoy the work that I am doing here and the feeling that I can make a difference. In addition, I am very grateful for the opportunity to work with many talented individuals that are truly great people.

What is the best advice you would give to someone just starting out at the company?

Don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone!

Which one of Hireology’s Core Values or belief statements resonates with you the most?

Pathological Optimism! I truly believe that a positive mindset is key when solving problems as it allows me to think outside the box and be able to communicate my ideas more effectively.
