Hireology Career Mobility Spotlight: Chris Meingast

At Hireology, creating a work environment that enhances the employee experience  professionally is a top priority. In fact, a foundational pillar of our EVP is that Hireologists are provided with a platform to accelerate their career development faster than elsewhere. We aspire to be the best place Hireologists will ever work.

It’s our daily mission to support our team members wherever they may find themselves in their professional journeys. Our aim is to ensure that every individual feels fully equipped to embrace their next step, regardless of its direction.

At Hireology, we foster professional development through both conventional and unconventional paths. These avenues empower our employees to broaden their skill sets, embrace new experiences, and find fulfillment in their daily tasks, knowing they have the resources to exceed expectations and realize their utmost potential.

Every month, we spotlight a different Hireology employee who has grown professionally in our Career Mobility Spotlight series. For June, we’re spotlighting Chris Meingast, who started out as a Customer Success Manager seven years ago and has worked his way up the CS ladder and now is our Director of Customer Success. Read on to learn more about Chris’s success here at Hireology.

When did you start with Hireology? What role did you start in? What role are you in currently?

I started with Hireology in May of 2017 as a Customer Success Manager, and at the time I was working primarily with our franchise customers. I eventually moved over to our automotive team – I managed that team for a few years, and now I’m the Director of Customer Success.

Describe how you’ve grown professionally since you started working for us.

When I started at Hireology, I literally didn’t know how to do anything that I’m currently responsible for now – which is to say that I’d consider 99% of my professional growth to have happened here. Most of that growth can be attributed to the fact that we’re a tight-knit company where you can take a peek at what other teams do and how other departments operate – that slowly allowed me to get a better understanding of how we operate and how I can grow along with that.

What’s the best advice you can give to someone who is looking to move up in their role or has shown interest in a different role or department?

Be consistently constructive in your day-to-day work, be open with your manager about your aspirations, and put your hand up to help if you see something that we could be doing better. There isn’t always going to be an immediate opportunity to move up or over to another team, but balancing those three things will usually set you up to be ready when the time comes.

What do you like about our company culture?

This is a very generic answer, but it’s true in my experience: everyone genuinely wants to help each other, and I think that type of culture can make up for a bad day here or there. We’re not perfect, but we’re lucky to have a group of people who have empathy for one another and will go out of their way to help you solve a problem when it comes up.

What makes you want to stay at our organization?

Things don’t normally stay still here, and I personally enjoy being challenged in slightly different ways every day. I’ve never felt stagnant in my 7+ years here, and that’s probably the main reason why I’ve been content for so long.

What is the best advice you would give to someone just starting at Hireology?

Learn from your peers as much (if not more) than you learn from your managers. The people who work here tend to be very good at what they do, and you’ll pick up little things that your team members do – how they talk to customers about issues, how they track their projects, etc. – that you can fold into your work.

Which one of Hireology’s Core Values or belief statements resonates with you the most? Why?

“Own the Result” sticks out to me because I honestly think I’ve learned more when I do something wrong (which happens often) than when I do something right. Owning what went wrong helps me not make that mistake in the future, and I appreciate working somewhere I can fail and still grow with the support of our team.
