Millennials are the future of our workplace, as they are the largest generation to date. As the baby boomers begin to leave the workplace, millennials are going to be a hot commodity for hiring managers.

It is important that they are able to create a millennial-friendly workplace in order to attract them to their company. According to an Inc slideshow, there are 5 steps to creating the perfect workplace environment for millennials.

1. Warm it up.

A cold, sterile environment is unappealing to millennials. Is is important that you have a warm environment for them to work in, making the experience more enjoyable. Using furniture and decorations can help lighten the feel of the workplace.

2. Make it permanent.

Nothing makes a job seem more permanent or serious than having your own desk to work at. When I say desk, I mean a nice wooden or metal desk. Using cheap, disposable furniture is a turn off. Even more, adding couches and tables to the workplace makes it feel more homey and permanent.

3. Forget the cubes.

Cubicles are a thing of the past. Working in a cramps, secluded box is not an attractive quality for an office. Even more, it hinders the growth of ideas and creativity. Instead, create spaces where small groups can gather.

4. Allow roaming.

Having your millennials confined to a desk is never fun. Wireless internet has made it a lot easier for people to do work from almost anywhere. Create spaces other than just desks for employees to go to work.

5. Flaunt your brand!

It’s your brand and you should be proud to show it off. Use colors around that office that reflect the colors of your brand. It shows off the great office team spirit!

By doing these 5 things, you will make your workplace much more attractive to millennials. You may not think that is important now, but as more millennials are entering the workplace, you begin to realize that they are the future.

Before you hire these sought-after millennials, make sure you conduct the perfect reference check!
