Give Your Social Media Recruiting A Holiday Boost

Ah the holidays! There’s nothing like the scent of fresh pine in winter cold air, the jolly spirit that flows through the veins of family and friends visiting one another-and the sweet anxiety of finding last-minute gifts.

Yes, there’s nothing like the holidays, especially when you’re rushing to finish work before you leave the office for break. It’s during this time of the year when many hiring managers tend to overlook the little things that help shine a positive light of their company. Whether it’s because of that last-minute push to finish important projects or because of all the holiday madness outside of the office, hiring managers forget to post on their social media sites during the holiday season. No matter how nutty this season may be, there’s always time to enhance your social media recruiting efforts.

Posting on your social media sites during the holidays is much more effective and beneficial to your recruiting efforts than you think. With the start of the new year (and new business year) just around the corner, job searchers will be on the look out for a new position. Having a presence on your social websites during this time of the year promotes your company, its culture and allows job searchers to have a positive outlook on your company’s brand. Plus, it’s easy to do and takes very little time.

3 Easy Ways To Enhance Your Social Efforts

  1. Stay active on Facebook/Twitter-schedule your tweets before you leave the office. If you don’t have a marketing platform that helps you do this, simply write them down and send them out on the specific days. Job searchers love seeing activity on your social pages. Whether you’re wishing everyone a happy holidays or posting the positions you’ll be hiring for in 2015, it’s smart to stay active on Facebook/Twitter. It keeps your brand active and in the minds of those looking to join a company like yours.
  2. Post a video-this is another simple way to keep your audience engaged and informed about your company culture. If you don’t have a holiday-themed video to share, don’t worry. Any video that focuses on your company’s atmosphere, coworkers or business will do. Post the video on your YouTube page, Facebook page, LinkedIn page, etc. It’s a great way to attract those who are too lazy to read about your company after eating a big holiday meal!
  3. Keep posting-yes, this sounds exactly what it seems like! If you have anything else that highlights your business, such as articles, pictures, blogs or insights, make sure you post them on your respective social media pages. This won’t take long to do since you already have the material. Now it’s just a matter of taking what you have and merely posting them on the pages where you usually attract your job applicants.

If you’re like me, most of the American workforce and Bob Cratchit, then you don’t like working during the holidays. If you’re a hiring manager, don’t forget to take care of your social media recruiting before you leave the office for break. Taking advantage of posting on all of your social pages will help attract potential job candidates for the new year, as well as help make your company look like the hard working Scrooge we all want to be in 2015-minus the bad attitude, ethics, etc. Let me rephrase thatÉhelp make your company look like the hard working REFORMED Scrooge we all want to be in 2015.

Happy Holidays!
