Fridays in the Lab: Hiring Ninjas, Wizards, and Rockstars

You don’t really want to hire a marketing ninja or sales rockstar do you? Then why make that the title of your open job? If you want someone who can write a press release in their sleep, then we would suggest hiring a communications coordinator or marketing associate, not a ninja. 

Believe it or not, people aren’t exactly drawn to buzzwords. It’s probably safe to assume most job seekers aren’t typing wizard into the search bar on Indeed. So for the sake of your hiring process, get rid of those goofy titles. You can have as much fun as you want with the job description, but keep the job titles traditional. It’ll help the position to rank higher in terms of searchability and traffic. 

Don’t say we didn’t warn you. If you do decide to hire a “rockstar,” this may happen…
