3 Secrets to Hiring During the Holidays

Pretty much everyone in the country is preparing for 4 days off and end-of-2012 stuff that only comes this time of year (or they are preparing for the end of the world, either way they aren’t hiring). The Christmas holidays and New Year festivities are approaching fast and people will tell you you are crazy for trying to hire during the holidays, but we are here to tell you that you can actually get a lot of benefit from hiring during the holidays and here’s why:

1. You Will Scoop up Great Talent

All the other hiring managers have closed down their hiring shop for the year and have put away their interviewing tools and ATS’s until January. The candidates however (the dedicated ones, see #2) have not stopped applying and searching for jobs. This leaves you to swoop down and snatch them up! With your selection management system, look for the most interested candidates and start interviewing!

2. The Most Dedicated Candidates Will Apply and be Interviewed

Any candidate who will miss out on Christmas parties, holiday get-togethers, and other holiday related activities is clearly showing some dedication. Candidates who interview and apply during the holiday season are more focused on working and this can be a huge indictor of their dedication to your organization during a time when distraction can be deadly.

3. You won’t have to fret in Janaury

By the time Q1 rolls around you will have fresh faces on your team and you will be able to focus on business, not hiring. While most hiring managers are rebooting their computers to dig through thousands of resumes, you will be 2 steps ahead of them focusing on more important things – like how to make 2013 the best year ever for your company!
