When our Business Development Director, Kevin Baumgart, suggested our team take part in the Movember, we all rolled our eyes and did a “whatever you say boss!”

But then we realized, what a crappy bunch of priveleged healthy millennials we were for having absolutely no excuse for not giving back to charity.

So we grew mustaches. And by we, I mean the men of Hireology. The women became “Mo-Sistas” and together we reached out to our social media networks, families, and mailmen and whatdya know… 2 weeks into November and we are 3/4ths on our way to our goal.

However, what we didn’t expect, when posting constant “stache” updates to social media, was the candidates who applied to open positions in Hireology who truly seemed touched that we came together to give back. We even had one applicant write in their cover letter that the reason that they are applying is due to our Movember campaign and how much fun it looks as company.

So have you ever thought about how “giving back” would affect hiring? Neither did we! But it has, and it will continue to as we plan more charity competitions.

It’s not dumb logic though, Pando Daily wrote an insightful piece on how millennials view the “working” world and the distaste they have for the Wall Street billionaires who are doing business for profit, instead of purpose. 

“Millennials have a different view of how work should be done and what a company’s role should be in society, they want companies to give back to the community,” stated the article.

So if you want to attract more job applicants, millennials, and good press to your company. Give back, and you might even feel pretty good about it yourself.
