To further explore what it takes to properly scale a startup, Built in Chicago (‘the online community for Chicago startups and tech companies’) spoke with Hireology’s Director of Talent, Melissa Ryan. Hireology has been on this startup rollercoaster for over five years now and thus far has had success in scaling our business with the right people. We can attribute much of our prosperous growth to two things: process and culture. To help shed some more light on what it takes to properly scale a company, here’s more of the interview with Melissa Ryan: 

On our hiring strategyÉ

Not surprisingly, as a company that provides hiring technology to thousands of companies, we have strong opinions on talent acquisition, and of course we use our own product! Not only is it important that we practice what we preach, but our customers appreciate knowing that their favorite Hireologists were recruited using the same tools and processes that they are using every day. Having a data driven, standardized process for hiring lets us design the right job descriptions, source recruits, conduct high impact interviews, and hire the right people with high quality and consistency. This hiring strategy makes it possible to recruit the type of candidates who have a strong chance of succeeding in their roles and making a positive contribution to the company.’

New hires and extending our cultureÉ

‘Culture is major consideration in building the team at Hireology. We are growing quickly and culture is ultimately what ties everyone together and drives long term success. So it’s crucial that our company culture scales alongside the size and composition of our team. ‘Our current team size is 95 employees. We are currently looking to fill a few key roles on our Customer Success, Sales, and Product teams. Open roles include: Director of Customer Success, Customer Care Associate, Customer Success Managers, Product Management Team Lead, and Sales Development Managers.’
